NBP (National Bank of Poland) to issue 500 złoty banknote

The new note will feature the image King Jan Sobieski III, and therefore continues the chronological order of the “Polish Rulers” series.

The National Bank of Poland said that it plans to introduce the banknote before 2017.

It’s not yet known exactly what the note will look like, the NBP said.

The bank also presented an updated 200 złoty note, which will carry enhanced security features and will be in circulation by February 2016.

The aim of the new 500 złoty note is to lower the costs of issuing banknotes and increase the effectiveness of monetary management, according to Marek Oleś – director of the issuance-treasury department at the NBP.
